Security
Pure-IP manages an advanced network of firewalls and security devices.
For our corporate customers we recommend requesting a static IP from your service provider. By default customers will not be able to access the Pure-IP network without a static public IP address. There are exceptions but some services might not be offered on dynamic IP addresses.
We always recommend that customers understand the potential security issues when using VoIP.
These are some of the security questions we try to discuss with our customers
- Management access to your VoIP equipment. How have you prevented access to your system? Has the defult password been changed. Are all managemnt ports protected with a firewall (telnet, ftp, HTTP for example)
- SIP / H323 ports. Who can access these voice ports from outside your network?
- SIP username / password. How strong are you SIP username and passwords? How often are they changed?
- Fraud protection. What mechanisms are in place to monitor for illegal calls.
- DDOS. How is your network prevented from DDoS attacks?
The Pure-IP support team can assist you in designing your VoIP network to be redundant, reliable and well protected. The key is plan your network in advance.
