VoIP enabling your legacy PBX is a straight forward process requiring nothing more than the installation of a gateway between your telephone lines and PBX.  The gateway is installed preconfigured with your dial plan / routing rules which operate with the Legacy PBX for outbound calls. Inbound calls and telephone numbers are unchanged.
